<p>Since Tina, a doctor, practices in her own clinic six days a week, her 5-years-old daughter Andie sees her only on Sundays. It is her yaya who takes care of all of the child's needs: what Anie eats, her medical care when she's sick, travels to and from her preschool. Because she sees her yaya more than she does her mom, Andies prefer to sleep with her nanny even if her mother is at home.Parents who have full-time jobs spend at least 50 hours a week awayfrom home thier children. Practically the entire daytime durig weekdays is spent outside the house. Some parents leave the house while the children sleep and return when they are already in bed.Even if some parents resolve not to bring work home, they connot entirely cut themselves off fromthe office. Some answer e-mails and text messages while spending time with the family. Other parent think and talk about work-related matters during holidays or weekend outings. Scientist from the American Psychoanalytic Association agree that "wheather adults realize it or not, their job-related stress affects thier children."
Jennifer Stuart, of the New York University Psychoanalytic Intitute, says, "It doesn't occur to parents that it's the emotional climate around working or being at home that has an impact." Dr. Catherine Romero, asistant professor of Psychiatry and Behaivoral Sciences at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, warns that "continuous work-related strees can have serious physical and psychological consequences." And if people do not have the appropriate coping skills, she says, the may take this strees out on thier family.
